I(f you pull up the online schematic of the Colt "O frame" on this site.you are looking for parts:-31.-57 in the frame and -10 and -33 in the slide. You have to press in the aforementioned plunger and hold it there to get the FP to move. With the slide in this position.you should NOT be able to push the FP forward and have it extend from the slide face. With the slide pulled back and locked to the rear you can see the plunger protruding from the underside of the slide. This part will depress a plunger mounted in the slide that is a firing pin block. There are parts for this mounted in the reciever.the RH rear and is visable as a "finger" that levers up when the trigger is pulled rearward.

The series 70(and prior versions) do not have the firing pin block parts.
The exceptions will be on those models that differ from a standard model(the short barrel versions,mainly) The major difference between a series 70 and a series 80 has to do with Lawyer added parts.

They tended to crack due to style of making one.Your pistol is a clone of the government model 1911A1 pistol and those parts,GI,Colt or aftermarket will fit your pistol. The early slides were not heat treated the same way. You sound right but the slide would have to be older than that. Great pistol, great peice of history, Congrats. Military dates of manufactor for any military firearm. I would think its worth $1200 to maybe $2000 with the documentation. I did this with weapons in my arms room when I was a armorer. The slide could be from any manufactor that made parts or salvaged parts from other pistols. Its slide and frame are stainless steel, with Thompson medallion inlaid wood grips. If there is a problem with a slide the armorer grabs a slide out of a bin and replaces the slide. The KAG Trump 1911 starts as an Auto-Ordnance 1911TC series pistol. Its very common to mismatch parts to repair a pistol in the military. I think the pistol was repaired while in military service and thats why you may have a mismatch slide. I would say the estate is correct that its a bring back pistol from the vet. The hammer and trigger are correct for a 1911A1. I have a several 1911s in that time frame with one of the slides matching your slide. My pistol did way better than the gun rags said there test results were too.
The AO 1911a1 army Ww 2 copy is way better than what I been looking for. It's been flawless right out of the box and well passed 500rds now.
Your slide is a Colt 1911 slide I would guess a date of 1914-1918 time frame (I may be off a bit). I've owned my auto ordnance army ww 2 copy since New in '05. Your FJA and ord stamp, and "P" match the ones I have on my Remington Rand made in 1944. It list your frame as a Remington Rand made in 1943. Its a web site for US military weapon serial #s for all types of Military firearms.
